A modest maximum budget of of INR 1,10,000 to INR 1,47,000) can cover a comfortable 10-day journey, encompassing flights, accommodation, meals, and local transportation. Ours was a 6day journey costing Rs 88,000

Day 1:

Our journey begins from Cochin International airport where the group meets assisted by our travel assistant, we are all set. The adventure begins when we land at Noi Bai International Airport. Transferred to the heart of Hanoi, the day unfolds with a city tour. Tran Quoc Pagoda, Hoan Kiem Lake, and Ngoc Son Temple offer glimpses into the city's rich history. The day concludes with shopping in the vibrant Hanoi Old Quarter. The journey through Vietnam sounds like an exciting and culturally enriching experience. Let's delve into the importance of each of the places we visited on this day:

    • Importance: Hoan Kiem Lake is not only a scenic natural spot but also holds historical and cultural importance. The lake is surrounded by legends, and its name translates to "Lake of the Returned Sword." The Ngoc Son Temple, situated on an islet in the lake, honours national hero Tran Hung Dao. The lake area is a popular gathering spot for locals and visitors alike, providing a serene escape in the heart of the bustling city.

Ngoc Son Temple, located on Jade Island in Hoan Kiem Lake, is dedicated to several deities, including Tran Hung Dao. Crossing the bright red Huc Bridge translated as the "Morning Sunlight Bridge,"  is a beautifully arched wooden bridge that adds to the scenic charm of the lake. Its vibrant red colour represents prosperity and happiness in Vietnamese culture, and crossing it gives visitors a sense of stepping into a realm where history and nature coalesce. Visitors can explore artifacts and learn more about the temple's history. Gracefully situated on an islet in the northern part of the lake is Ngoc Son Temple, a focal point of spiritual reverence. The temple is dedicated to various national heroes, including Tran Hung Dao and Van Xuong.

As the day progresses, the lakeside pathways become a popular spot for leisurely strolls, casual conversations, and picnics.

Turtle Tower: Adds a touch of mystique to the lake and is located on a small island near the centre. This tower, rising elegantly from the water, is a symbol of the sacred creatures associated with the lake's legends. Turtles are considered a symbol of longevity and wisdom in Vietnamese culture.

The Old Quarter's narrow streets are lined with colonial-style buildings, tube houses, and traditional Vietnamese storefronts. The architecture reflects a blend of French colonial influences and ancient Vietnamese design, creating a unique and visually captivating atmosphere.

 As we start the next leg of our Vietnam adventure, we leave Hanoi behind and venture into the mesmerizing landscapes of Halong Bay, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Days 2-3 mark a transition from urban exploration to a serene encounter with nature in Halong Bay. The cruise not only offers a visual feast but also allows you to engage with the bay's wonders, creating memories that linger long after you've sailed back to the mainland. It’s a scenic 3.5-hour drive through the Red River Delta that sets the tone for an immersive 1-night cruise. In Ho Chi Minh City, we get to explore historical landmarks - Reunification Hall, War Museum, Notre-Dame Cathedral, General Post Office, and the Opera House. A day trip to Cu Chi Tunnels unravels the underground world used during the war. Thien Hau Temple adds a touch of spirituality.
